In a world where the landscape of public policy is ever-evolving, equipped individuals who possess the knowledge, skills, and network to drive positive change are essential. Recognizing this need, the Cheetahs Policy Institute, sponsored by Atlas Networks a nonprofit organization that aims to secure for all individuals the rights to economic and personal freedom through its global network of strategic partners, organized a transformative two-day residential event – the Public Policy Leadership Bootcamp, aimed at empowering individuals with the tools and insights needed to navigate global and local policy issues effectively.
One of the hallmarks of the Bootcamp was its commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that participants at varying levels of experience and knowledge in public policy were properly engaged and carried along. With over 20 participants hailing from six states in Nigeria, including Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Osun, Uyo, and Kaduna, as well as one international participant from Ghana, the Bootcamp fostered a diverse and dynamic learning environment.
Participants were divided into groups and tasked with presenting case studies, fostering collaborative learning and providing practical opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. The inclusion of follow-up projects further solidified the concepts of public policy analysis. Over the next six weeks, participants will undergo post-Bootcamp exercises, analyzing the budgets of their respective states to apply the knowledge gained during the Bootcamp. The Cheetahs Policy Institute eagerly anticipates the innovative projects participants will deliver as a result of this exercise.
Testimonials from past participants speak volumes about the transformative impact of the Bootcamp. Hammed Suleiman expressed gratitude for the deep connections forged with fellow enthusiasts and facilitators, reaffirming the universality of human connection in the realm of public policy. Mudiaga Aluya commended the expertise of the faculty in untangling the complexities of Nigerian policy and praised the seamless organization of the event by the Cheetah’s team.
As the curtains draw on one successful Bootcamp, anticipation mounts for the next installment, set to take place in Abuja, Nigeria. While the specific date is yet to be announced, the commitment of the organizers to continue fostering effective public policy leadership and advocacy remains unwavering.
